The Family and Community Support Services Association of Alberta (FCSSAA) has received funding through the Alberta Rural Development Network (ARDN) to assist communities with conducting homelessness estimation counts in rural Alberta.
Estimating the number of people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless is a difficult task and faces unique challenges in rural areas. Some of these obstacles include large geographical areas, few or no resources to recruit and train volunteers, and few or no staff available to work on homelessness issues.
The FCSSAA has now created a small grant program (maximum of $5,000) to be made available to eligible communities to help to offset some of the costs.
