The Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO) has published a report on “Federal Program Spending on Housing Affordability”. The report gives a financial breakdown of the National Housing Strategy program, compares it to pre-Strategy funding, and includes an analysis of funding dedicated to off-reserve Indigenous housing.

The report concluded: “It is not clear that the National Housing Strategy will reduce the prevalence of housing need relative to 2017 levels… assumptions regarding the impact of NHS outputs on housing need do not reflect the likely impact of those programs on the prevalence of housing need.”

CHRA recognizes the gaps that exist in the NHS and continues to advocate for community housing and address barriers to exiting homelessness and poverty.
